Realizing Life

I'm deep in a dream

One I've known for some time now

I brush my teeth and take my shower

I'm dressing up looking for a job

I have no intention in messing that up

So I grab my resume and head out the door

No need for breakfast because I have something important I must do

I enter numerous of stores handing out my resume like it was an agenda of a medical conference

Well I tried my best

It's time to do some other things

So I get home and lay my head

Thinking over my goals and purpose in life

I know that one day my dreams will become reality and I'll be very successful

On that note I'm going to sleep

Alternative Spring Break 2K14 in New Orleans

It all started a Saturday ago, when about 28 high-spirited individuals took a 20 hour bus trip to New Orleans to impact lives. Well it's quite funny how they all departed there as individuals and arrived back as a family. They tutored and talked to children, mowed lawns, surveyed people in their homes, and every other thing you can think of. Everyday they woke up at 6:45 ready to impact lives with such bright and humble faces. Their smiles showed how much they enjoyed being in New Orleans but how importantly Mack, the owner of Lower Ninth Ward Village Community Center, changed our lives forever. Two humble individuals known as Mack and Slick taught us so much that we felt as if we were their very own children. We laughed with them like we were bonded way back when. Teaching us every single thing they knew. Mack in his very own words said "I've never left for a storm before...and I'll never stay for one again not because of the storm, but because I [Mack] don't trust the city and it's need to protect its investments instead of the people of the 9th Ward...There was a boom heard near the levees". For this experience we have all learned much more about ourselves that we did not know. Time and time again we bonded like a family. Through the pictures and moments, you will see how close we became. We will all remember the week of Spring Break 2014 as the defining moments in our lives. Then it was that time to go, where the kids would not let us go. Children giving us cards of appreciation with the addition of the Martin Luther King Jr Charter School for Science and Technology second band appearance marching through the halls of the school. The moment felt so real. On the way back, all you can hear is chatter about the trip until everybody dozed off. Getting off in front of Cramton Auditorium was very hard knowing the lives we touched were wondering when we were all coming back. Through social networks,  we still communicate like no other group. Getting up so tired just to attend Chapel as a family brought us even more closer together. We are not done. We are still on a mission to impact as many lives as we can and touch the world where no one else can see. With God by our sides anything is possible.
